Background: Laminin β-4, also known as LAMB4, is a 1,761 amino acid secreted protein that contains thirteen Laminin EGF-like domains, one Laminin IV type B domain and a Laminin N-terminal domain. Laminin β-4 exists as three alternatively spliced isoforms and is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 7q31.1. Binding to cells via a high affinity receptor, laminin is thought to mediate the attachment, migration and organization of cells into tissues during embryonic development by interacting with other extracellular matrix components.
